NGSA Free Coach's Clinic

Another Successful NGSA Junior Golf Event

Saturday, December 6, 2003 the NGSA along with Oasis Golf Center sponsored the First Annual Coach's Clinic at Oasis Golf Center in Plymouth, Michigan. The purpose of the Coach's Clinic was to provide area coaches with information about local junior golf programs and golf swing knowledge that they can pass along to their students.

Each coach received breakfast, free practice time before and after the clinic, $20 VIP card for additional practice time, and most importantly each coach left with additional knowledge about the golf swing to share with the students on their golf team.

The activities began with breakfast and open practice along with an informal discussion between coaches and golf professionals.

After breakfast the coaches were provided with information about numerous junior golf activities in the Detroit area including the Top50jrTour, junior golf camps, Ford Senior Championship Junior Pro-Am, and many other junior golf opportunities. The coaches asked numerous questions, many seeking additional information about area golf activities so they may provide their students with competitive opportunities to improve their golf games.

This was followed by an informative clinic by PGA Golf Professional Danny Thomas discussing junior golf related topics including what every coach should know, "the most overlooked mistakes made by jr. golfers".

We were very pleased with the turnout as well as the participation by the coaches in attendance. Along with many coaches, we are looking forward to next years Coach's Clinic, which promises to be bigger and better.
